 There is a division of the FBI tasked to retrieve missing persons - to put into context here, they basically find people who have vanished without a trace. When someone goes missing they start researching the persons personal life, the situation, etc and try to track the person down as fast as they can - 48 hours is a good timeframe.
The shows an almost 24 or X-Files format with intermittent screens announcing the victim has now been missing for 12 hours or 36 hours, etc. Although the best part of the show is the fact that each episode is totally different where it be a kidnapping, murder, hostage situation, there is something different each week.
Anthony LaPaglia heads up the cast as Jack Malone and is joined by Poppy Montgomery, Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Enrique Murciano and Eric Close who play the rest of the squad.
