The power plant workforce turns up at the stadium to watch drag racing. Smithers puts Mr. Burns in the car while he goes to get a smaller novelty hand. A drunken Lenny scares Mr. Burns and Smithers thinks he has failed him. Next day he breaks down and Mr. Burns tells him to go on vacation.
Smithers leaves Homer to replace him before heading off. Homer is having trouble with the extra work but struggles on. Next day Bart and Lisa exploit Homer while he is in a sleep like state. Smithers continues to call and Mr. Burns continues to insult Homer. Homer finally gets so bad he punches Mr. Burns and runs home. At home he tells Marge that he killed Mr. Burns.
Marge suggests he goes back and apologies. Homer finds Mr. Burns hiding behind a pot plant. He tells Homer to leave then tries to ring Smithers but gets Moe who thinks it is a prank call. On his vacation, Smithers feels Mr. Burns crying out for his help. Over the next few days Mr. Burns doesn’t let Homer do anything as he is still scared of him and begins to do things for himself.
Soon Mr. Burns is doing everything when Smithers comes back. Mr. Burns sends Homer back to his trusty post while he fires Smithers. Smithers tries several jobs but gets fired from them all. Homer tells him he will help him get his job back. Smithers comes up with a plan – he phones Mr. Burns’s mother.
Homer prepares to transfer the call in but ends up disconnecting it. He pretends to be Mr. Burns’s mother himself. Mr. Burns discovers the plan and Smithers dives on Homer. They start fighting despite Mr. Burns efforts to stop them. Mr. Burns climbs up onto his stuffed bear which Homer falls into and knocks out of the building.
Later Smithers is taking care of Mr. Burns again due to all his broken bones. Mr. Burns thinks he is still self reliant. Back at home, Homer has a fruit basket from Smithers. |

Mr. Burns: “Being waited on hand and foot is ok for your average Joe. But it’s not for me”
Beer delivery you: “No, you!”
Mr. Burns: “Sorry about pulling the plug on you. Who would have thought you would pull through and live – for another 5 decades”
Bart: “What did you get that for?”
Homer: “Knocking Mr. Burns out of a 3rd story window”
Bart: “makes sense to me”
Lisa: “Did he die?”
Homer: “What am I a doctor?” |
