Episode Guide
Seth introduces to Ryan to Chrismukka, a highbred of Hanukah and Christmas that he created. They ask what Ryan would like to incorporate but Ryan says his holidays never went well. Roll opening credits. Seth is sat in the pool house cutting up all sort of material to wrap presentations. Seth tells Ryan he is getting Summer and Anna the same thing.

Kirsten makes out a Christmukka list for Ryan. Sandy comes in and says that Caleb has refused his latest settlement offer and wants to go to trial. Seth is paranoid about Chrismukka being ruined.

Jimmy asks Marissa about ties. She asks about his job interview today, but he says it is a meet and greet. Marissa suggests they skip Christmas but Jimmy says no way. Marissa seems depressed although she is trying to hide it. At school Summer and Anna come up and ask him about arrangements to the party that night, at the same time. Seth tells them both to meet him there.

Julie is organising the putting up of her tree. Kirsten talks to Caleb about him turning down the $200 million offer for the land but Caleb says he can get another $100 million out of them. Kirsten tells him she is taking Christmas vacation. Marissa tells Ryan she hates Christmas. She say is going to the holiday party tonight. Ryan tells her he is going shopping and Marissa insists she comes with him.

At the mall they kiss and look at gifts. But neither of them can actually afford to shop there anymore. Marissa and Ryan head to the car to leave but Marissa is stopped by a security guard who says she must hand over her purse immediately. Ryan tells him to back off but Marissa says it is ok and hands it over. Inside there is the watch that Ryan wanted to buy but could not afford.

Seth comes home and Kirsten tells him she is on vacation despite the fact she is reviewing papers. Seth notices presents for Ryan from his mother and Trey. Kirsten spots something which alarms her but doesn’t tell Seth. She phones someone and asks for a copy of a document.

Julie bursts into Jimmy’s apartment to ask about the incident at the mall. She blames Jimmy. Jimmy says they were discussing punishments but Julie says no car, no allowance, no weekends but says she must come to the party tonight. Julie asks why Marissa did it but Marissa is unable to find the words. Julie tells her she called the therapist and has scheduled her an appointment.

Ryan tells Seth about what Marissa did. Seth gives Ryan a stocking. Sandy comes in to find Kirsten drinking alone in their bedroom. He seems happy as he settled with Caleb for $250 million. Sandy says Caleb wants to spend the holiday as a family. Kirsten gives Sandy the document – it clearly destroys Caleb’s case but Kirsten thinks she will get fired. Anna turns up at Seth’s place as does Summer. The Seth not picking a girl is clearly causing tension.

Sandy and Kirsten come down to find Summer and Anna sat on either side of Seth. Elsewhere Ryan suggests that seeing a therapist might be good for Marissa. Marissa says if nobody is making her parents go to therapy, nobody is making her. She asks Ryan to go get a jacket or something for her and when he is gone she takes a liquor bottle from a cupboard.

At the party, Seth goes off to find Ryan to stop himself from having to pick a girl. Sandy wants to talk to Caleb but he says it isn’t the time and joking suggests he spokes the tree. Julie questions Kirsten about what she thinks about the party and what Caleb’s opinion is. There is beat between Julie and Marissa over the therapy.

Sandy goes to see Caleb again and confronts him with the geological survey of the Heights where he is planning to develop. Sandy points out that the whole area is geologically unstable and uninsurable. He offers him $1 to buy back the Heights. Caleb refuses but Sandy gives him a dollar and says happy Christmas. Seth is alone with Anna and she gives him a comic she hand drew.

Jimmy speaks to Kirsten about parenting. He seems to be wondering about Marissa’s actions but Kirsten says there have been several incidents with Seth. She also points out that they did plenty of things when they were young. Kirsten says they have good kids. Cuts to Marissa pouring the bottle of liquor into her coke and downing it.

Summer steals Seth away when Anna goes to get drinks and brings him into a room and takes her dress off to reveal a wonder woman outfit. Anna comes in and interrupts them. Seth tries to hold the situation together but they say Seth has to choose between them. They leave to allow him to think about it.

Marissa returns to the party and tries to get Ryan to dance. She seems drunk. Ryan points out he doesn’t drink alone in the bathroom. Marissa leaves and gets back in her car. Ryan stops the car by standing in front of it. Marissa backs up and hits someone else’s car. Meanwhile Caleb makes a speech announcing that he has sold the Heights for $1. Caleb walks off and whispers happy Hanukah to Sandy as he passes him.

Ryan is driving Marissa home. She pulls out the liquor bottle but drops the lid. The are pulled up by the police. The officer is about to look around but is called away. He lets them off with a warning for the tail light. When he leaves, Ryan gets out and throws the bottle from the car. He is angry as he left these problems behind in Chino.

Seth tells Ryan about what Anna and Summer said. Ryan tells Seth what happens and Seth points out he didn’t get busted as he was saved by a Chrismukka miracle. Seth speaks to Anna and Summer separately and asks them both to be friends but they both say they don’t want to be his friend and give him the gift back.

Caleb storms in about what Kirsten did but Kirsten tells him it was going to come out eventually. Caleb points out it was evil and ruthless and that he might be able to make a real estate mogul out of her yet. Sandy invites Ryan to a movie but Ryan says he is going with Marissa to therapy. Sandy talks Ryan into going to the movies. Marissa arrives at therapy and meets Oliver, a student who goes to Pacific. Oliver guesses at what is wrong with her, and his guess is pretty good. She goes into the room.

At home Ryan arrives back to find out what happened with Seth. He tells Seth he is going to hang his stocking after all.

Analysis
Ah Seth you constant entertainment machine. Another decent episode though I don’t think it matched up to the homecoming or the secret. Still not a bad episode, especially with Summer and Seth. But again there was more frustration between him being incapable of making one decision.

It moved the plot along ok though and I haven’t lost interest so I guess it severed an ok job as a mid-season episode.
