The phone goes, its Teresa phoning for Sandy with a legal question. They arrange to meet and Teresa asks him to keep quite.

Roll opening credits. Later Julie walks into Kirsten’s office as she works and begins to go on and on about the wedding plans. Marissa gets off the phone from Caleb asking her to help Kirsten. Summer and Seth are watching them from elsewhere and Seth moans about the change in dynamics between Ryan and Marissa. Summer gets a phone call from her dad. Summer mentions that he is his best friend. Seth questions her about why he never met his dad.

Summer agrees that they can go to lunch with her dad. Elsewhere Sandy arrives to see Teresa who has a black eye. She reveals that Eddie did it after losing his job, drinking and so forth. She questions Sandy what would happen if he did it again and she pressed charges. Sandy tells her not to marry him.

Summer comes into Seth’s room and tells him about the lunch arrangements for tomorrow. Seth continues to brag about how well he thinks it will go. They begin to get nervous however when thinking more deeply into it. Back at Jimmy’s apartment he is making out with Hailey.

Marissa comes in and interrupts them. Hailey leaves after they fumble a bad excuse and Marissa busts Jimmy but says she is fine with it. Jimmy gives her this big speech about how they are going to be ok and Marissa bottles it about telling him. Back at home, Marissa and Ryan question Seth on tomorrow’s meeting.

In the kitchen Kirsten and Sandy discuss Teresa. Sandy says he hasn’t told Ryan as Ryan would go crazy and violate his probation. Next day Seth is worrying about what outfit for lunch. Marissa arrives and is forced to face Julie. Julie leaves and begins to help Kirsten and begins to suggest people from Julie’s family that could attend. It is clear Marissa is inviting Aunt Cindy to spite Julie.

Elsewhere Sandy and Jimmy take a look at Caleb’s offer – it is over half what they put in. Caleb leaves and they discuss what Caleb could be up to, not that they care at $2.5 million dollars. Although Sandy considers how he would have liked to run the restaurant although Jimmy doesn’t seem to notice.

Back at home, Aunt Cindy is there being amazingly annoying around Kirsten when Ryan and Marissa enter. Cindy tells them all about how they haven’t talked in years when Julie enters and faces off against Cindy. Marissa and Ryan make a run for it.

At the restaurant, Seth is explaining about how he merged Christmas and Hanukah. He then goes onto comic books and Summer’s look shows he isn’t doing well. Hailey and Jimmy arrive ready to reveal to everyone although they are both having second thoughts. They begin to kiss when Kristen and Julie come out.

At the bakery or wherever, Kirsten and Ryan enter to pick up a cake and Marissa reveals in the memory of Julie’s face when she saw Cindy. They begin messing around with cake when Teresa comes out with their cake. Seeing Ryan she tries to turn away but it’s too late and Ryan questions her on what happened.

Back at home Sandy brings Kirsten a coffee. Sandy says he is going to pay Eddie a visit but Kirsten mentions Ryan isn’t talking to him. She suggests he invites Teresa over for a talk. Sandy goes to talk to Ryan and talks about what happened. Elsewhere Seth arrives at Summer’s to ask if her father mentioned lunch but Summer is cold about the issue.

Teresa arrives and Ryan comes over to talk to her. They get all semi-emotional while back in the kitchen Kirsten and Sandy share a drink and prepare to face Ryan and Teresa. Kirsten talks her into coming to the shower. Marissa arrives and Ryan explains how Teresa is in town for a while.

The shower begins and people randomly congratulate Julie on the up coming wedding and Marissa disappears off to the bathroom, Teresa goes after him. Julie moans to Kirsten about Cindy is flirting with Caleb while Kirsten in a separate world of her own moans about Hailey flirting with Jimmy.

Julie goes over to break up Cindy and Caleb while at the back of the catering Teresa finds Marissa sitting alone. They share a moment while Julie begins to open presents. Cindy, now pretty drunks decides to organise a game and begins to embarrass Julie. Ryan comes over to see Marissa and Teresa and it gets awkward.

Teresa’s phone goes but Ryan gets angry that she is still talking to him and answers the call and tells him to leave her alone. Teresa gets angry at Ryan though and it eventually comes out that Eddie has hit him before. Ryan goes off angrily while Cindy continues to embarrass Julie by revealing more random trivia about her. Julie storms off.

Ryan goes through Marissa’s purse and takes her car keys. Seth tries to stop him but Ryan goes off. Sandy arrives and tells Ryan to get out of the car. Ryan refuses though and drives off. In the bar, Jimmy appears to talk to Kirsten about what happened between him and Hailey. Kirsten says he is being used by Hailey to get back at her.

Analysis
Everyone’s relationships are breaking apart – it’s closing in on the end of the series and I am beginning to wonder if everyone is going to have such a perfectly happy ending after all. I mean that is the way that these things are going to go. But that is the O.C. for you, so predictable yet it still keeps you on edge.

This wasn’t a bad episode although there was a distinct lack of action. I love emo and many of it’s surrounding qualities although it was so dry and relationship based, I mean is this like the first episode ever with hardly any humour from Seth. It is a core foundation of the show that seems to have been missed off.

So in conclusion this is far from one of my favourite episodes. It kept me entertained for the hour none the less though.
