Opens with stock shots of school. Ryan is talking to Seth about him and Marissa. Ryan says they will go back to being friends. Meanwhile Marissa is saying the same thing to Summer. Seth gets a call on his mobile, it’s Teresa. Ryan answers it and is told she is coming out there and asks to hang out, Ryan agrees.
After she hangs up, it is revealed there is some guy in her apartment. Roll opening credits. Marissa and Ryan meet up in the corridor resulting in an uncomfortable situation. Brad tells Summer he wants her to take part in a kissing fund raiser, she agrees.
Kirsten goes to see Caleb who tells him Shaun has been arrested and he wants Sandy to deal with it. Kirsten tells Caleb that he will have to ask Sandy himself. Later Anna points out to Seth that Summer is ignoring her. Julie turns up for a parent teacher conference and shares a word with Luke.
Jimmy turns up and interrupts them. Luke tries to inconspicuously flee. Ryan meets Marissa and apologises. They arrange to meet up after school. Caleb enters the restaurant / building site where Sandy is having a meal. Caleb asks him to help Shaun and Sandy says he will look at the report and think about it.
Jimmy and Julie come out of the meeting and talk about how their lives are going. At Summer’s place, Seth and Summer are in bed. Summer says she ignored him because she wants her relationship to be private. Ryan and Marissa are playing video games but Teresa interrupts and Marissa leaves.
Sandy tells Kirsten he made a few calls about Shaun. Ryan and Seth come in and Ryan explains when questioned that Teresa is out here making some money to pay for school, etc. Elsewhere Luke is getting dressed while Julie is in bed. Julie gets a call from Katelin and heads home after telling Luke it’s over.
Along the room next to them, Teresa goes into a room; she appears to be staying there. Ryan turns up to see Marissa and explains where Teresa is staying (so it was the Mermaid inn). Seth talks to Anna about Summer being ashamed of him. Sandy arrives in the restaurant to find Shaun sitting inside. Sandy tells him that he was really in the hotel room he ‘stumbled into’ to get documents for Caleb as the guy is part of a huge lumber supplier in negotiations with a rival of the Newport Group.
Ryan and Marissa share an ice cream on the beach. They discuss their respective relationships and have some picturesque scenes as the sun sets. At Summer’s splace, Seth confronts Summer about her ignoring him and says he is on strike.
That night Ryan turns up on his bike and meets Eddie. He tells Ryan that Teresa just came out here leaving him and he has come looking for her. He says he got her a ring and they are engaged. Ryan tells Eddie she hasn’t looked him up.
Later at the Mermaid Inn Ryan confronts Teresa about Eddie. Teresa says that she needs time to think it over. At Seth’s, Summer enters and tries to break the strike but Seth shoots her down. Caleb turns up to see Julie and gives her flowers. Julie closes the door on him and turns off the porch light.
Ryan turns up with Teresa and introduces her. Ryan briefs Seth on the situation. Seth then tells Sandy and Kirsten. Marissa is watching TV when Jimmy arrives home and tries to get her to talk but Marissa doesn’t want to talk about it. Jimmy tells her that she and Ryan were never friends.
Teresa is spilling all the stories about grade school and musicals, etc when Marissa turns up. It’s incredibly uncomfortable but they stumble through and invite Marissa to join them for dinner. Eddie phones Ryan but Seth tells him Ryan is out on Ryan’s prompt. Seth warns Ryan of the dangers of triangles.
Sandy tells Caleb that he won’t help him but Caleb tells him that there is a lot that Shaun could tell the DA (district attorney) and Kirsten is mixed up in all this. Summer goes to talk to Anna and Anna tells him she shouldn’t ignore him. Summer says that she ignores him because she thinks they will break up as he is smart and they have nothing in common.
Julie wearing a large hat and glasses phones Luke inviting him to the Mermaid Inn. Anna goes to talk to Seth and tells him about Summer being scared. Marissa turns up to see Teresa and asks her if she is still in love with Ryan. Meanwhile Ryan turns up to see Eddie and Ryan tells him the truth about Teresa.
Eddie asks him if he is still in love with Teresa and says if he is he won’t give her up without a fight. Ryan heads back while Teresa tells Marissa about her dreams and marriage plans. Julie heads into a room just before Marissa and Teresa emerge. At the kissing fund raiser, Seth breaks it up and tells everyone that they are dating and eventually talks Summer onto the table and they kiss in front of everyone.
Teresa is phoning Eddie when Ryan turns up. She says she is going home but Ryan kisses her. Inside Eddie’s voice can be heard on the phone. |

It’s interesting the way the news spreads so fast. Sandy and Kirsten set the table with Teresa allowing Ryan to talk to Seth. Then Ryan engages Teresa in a different activity of preparing the table, freeing Seth up to talk to Sandy and Kirsten.
Of course the question is why of why didn’t Ryan tell Eddie the truth. They seemed to have a good relationship which is pretty screwed now Ryan is kissing Teresa and all. As for Julie and Luke. I was expecting the predictable Luke is angry and does something stupid after Julie ended it. But I guess the show is going for the even more predictable, the two get caught.
Overall for an episode it was pretty good if not a bit dragged out. There were hints of storylines but quite a slow moving plot. Nice break through with Seth and Summer though. |
