Oliver looks at a photo of Marissa and Ryan and slides it behind a different photo. Sandy is teaching Ryan how to play golf. Ryan misses and Seth comes out of the pool with it. Ryan says he is not going to Palm Springs but Seth says without him there is no trip. Sandy gets Ryan to keep trying and smashes something.
Kirsten tells Sandy that Julie and Caleb are getting back to Newport this year. Hailey is not happy about Julie being with Caleb. Summer and Marissa are hanging out while Marissa packs. Summer isn’t happy about Seth. She plans her to sabotage the trip. Marissa points out she is going crazy. Seth and Jimmy meet each other and Jimmy tells him that he has been turned down. Jimmy says he is leaving but Sandy suggest that he gets a job at Sandy’s place.
Sandy says he has to have dinner with him tonight so he can get out of dinner with Julie and Caleb. The Lighthouse is closing down apparently. Summer arrives and goes to see Seth. Marissa says they need to be nice to her. Seth and Anna are lying on his bed staring at the ceiling. They start kissing and are interrupted by Summer.
Luke has loaded the jeep full of beer. Luke mentions he and Summer are the only ones dateless. Summer shoots him down though. Oliver comes up and says Natalie has dumped him. Marissa rides with Oliver so they can talk about it, Ryan rides with Luke and Summer, Anna and Seth ride together. Caleb and Julie arrive back early.
Caleb is really pleased to see Hailey when she emerges. Ryan and Luke arrive carrying in a huge case of beer. Oliver goes to show Luke where the fridge is. Summer comes in carrying all the stuff and dumps it on the floor. Seth gets a call from Sandy, the 6th call in two hours. Oliver tells everyone that his parent’s plane is delayed and won’t be able to make it. He welcomes everyone and shows them their rooms.
Oliver talks to Ryan and tries to be nice but Ryan doesn’t take it as a compliment. Sandy tries to get Jimmy a job but he is told that he doesn’t get a second chance. There is a suggestion Sandy goes into business with him though ironically. Kirsten and Julie talk about Hailey being nice to Caleb to get money. Kirsten is worried that one day she won’t come back. Julie tells Kirsten she should talk to him.
Marissa, Ryan, Oliver and Luke hit the golf course. There is tension between Luke and Oliver. Meanwhile Seth is carrying round his and Summer’s golf clubs. Oliver tells Marissa he thinks Ryan hates him. He challenges Ryan and Luke to a race back. Ryan drives into a tree and gets angry. Oliver leaves and Marissa heads after him after telling Ryan, Oliver was just playing. Luke tells him that Oliver was serious though.
Sandy heads off for his dinner with Jimmy while Kirsten says she isn’t going out with Caleb, Julie and Hailey. Seth and Anna get some along time but Summer interrupts once again and asks to watch TV. They try to get rid of Summer but she refuses to leave and sits between them turning on the TV.
Oliver tries to make up with Ryan but Ryan is still cold towards him. Oliver freaks out and breaks a plate and flairs up. Marissa comes in and Oliver says he is going to get some fresh air. Marissa questions Ryan on what happened and asks him what his problem is. At dinner Jimmy and Sandy talk over dinner. Jimmy says the best job he ever had was managing this restaurant and Sandy says this place is the last part of classic Newport. They get talking about how much fun it would be then their current lives.
Sandy orders more drugs. Seth and Anna talk about random things, Summer does not look happy. She says they are so good together they are like brother and sister. She goes to bed. Anna says she is going to sleep. Ryan comes in and talks to Marissa but the are interrupted by a call from Oliver who has driven back to Newport and taken a load of pills. He asks Marissa to come back.
Marissa and Ryan head back in the car. However back at the place he is drinking and playing music. Marissa keeps calling him but he refuses to pick up the phone. He spreads pills all over the place. Hailey comes in and talks to Kirsten about what happened and has her bags packed. She leaves in cab.
Marissa and Ryan arrive and Oliver finally opens the doors. He says he is good now and tells them they should go but obviously Marissa says they will stay. Ryan suggest they go to the emergency room but he says no as then he will be put on suicide watch and his parents will get called.
Sandy sneaks into their bedroom but Kirsten is awake reading. He seems a little drunk. Kirsten says that Hailey is gone. Sandy tells him that he and Jimmy might have gone into business together as his current job sucks. Kirsten says it’s great that he is helping Jimmy though Sandy is asleep in his arms. The other 4 arrive back from Palm Springs and Seth and Anna get out. Summer says she is moving on. Summer turns him down again though.
Marissa says she is staying with him but Ryan says that maybe he faked the whole thing. Ryan heads out of the door, zooms out and cuts to credits. |

That Oliver is evil, evil I tell you! Tension is building fast now. Normally Marissa might be trusted but then again this is a TV show so all those thinks you are willing the characters not to get drunk and end up doing have a way of playing out.
The Sandy Jimmy thing I think is really cool although it kind of spoils Sandy’s fighting for the little guys public defender look. Still he lost than when he became a corporate sell out. And the Hailey thing – I would be pretty annoyed too if I was here. I mean if my dad was rich, I would mooch off him too.
Not a bad episode though the relationships bit dragged on a bit. Summer’s attitude was also pretty annoying though its good to see Seth and Anna together. |
