"Nathan gets the team to haze Lucas"

In the match the Ravens are down, their undefeated record is at stake. Nathan is double teamed but takes the shot anyway and misses. The clock ticks down to five seconds and the ball comes back to Lucas behind the three point line. He takes the shot and makes it, winning the match for the Ravens.
After the match Nathan isn’t happy but Lucas is congratulated by his mother and uncle who turned up to watch it. One of the women comes up and says she is eligible to join their gathering now although the woman doesn’t seem to want Karen to join. Elsewhere Dan aims a comment at Nathan.
Lucas gets into his car and finds Brooke in his car. She begins to come onto him but coach arrives at the window and tells him to start fitness training and also points out there is a half naked girl in the back his car.
Roll title credits. Next day Nathan is bitching to Peyton about Lucas. Nathan notices there is something different about Peyton’s room but when Peyton says she took her sketches down, Nathan says he didn’t realise she had any. Lucas arrives back at the café and talks to Haley.
Elsewhere Karen moans to Keith about how annoying the other women are. Peyton is at home in her room at gets a call from Thug Magazine who says her sketches are great and for her to call them. Later Lucas and Haley turn up at the Burning Boat festival. Apparently somewhere where you can dump all your stuff and have it burned.
One of Haley’s tutor kids comes up and says he got a B+. Next day at high school Haley invites Lucas out before leaving. Peyton soon arrives though and confronts him submitting her sketches to Thug Magazine. Brooke arrives to collect her bra and Peyton looks really annoyed at him.
Later Peyton and Brooke talk about what happened when she was in his car. Brooke seems to have nothing else on her mind than getting Lucas to sleep with her. Later Lucas is showering, but a hand grabs his towel. He heads to his locker but finds it empty and goes off in search of clothes with nothing but a basketball.
Whitey ends up finding him. Later Lucas talks to Keith as they work on a car and Lucas mentions the team hazing him. Keith tells him to roll with it and show them what he is made of. In the gym, Whitey tells Nathan that he is switching his position to small forward from shooting guard.
Later he arrives home and Dan confronts him about the Lucas getting his spot. Dan asks him if he still wants to do this and Nathan nods his head. Next morning Dan says Whitey is just doing it to get back at him. Nathan says it is Whitey’s team but Dan tells him the team is his. Dan tells him to get rid of Lucas by identifying his weaknesses and attack them. At school Nathan gives a speech to the team to turn them against Lucas.
Lucas walks in and opens his locker to find water come rushing out. After everyone else Jake tells Lucas that they must be getting desperate and that he should hang in there as they all went through it. He hands Lucas a dry kit.
On the court Nathan is questioned about what will happen if Lucas doesn’t leave. Nathan says he has a backup plan though. Nathan turns up to see Haley and tells her that she is his tutor. However Haley refuses to help him. Peyton turns up to Thug Magazine. She is offered a test strip if she can make her characters a bit more happy.
In class, Brooke is doing one of those folder paper romance things. She asks Lucas his favourite colour, number and sexual position. Is it taken off her by the teacher who begins handing back papers, Nathan gets an F. He turns up to see Haley again and shows her the paper.
Brooke is getting waxed while Peyton questions her about her “Lucas quest.” Brooke begins to question whether Peyton likes Lucas and says she is looking for a more reliable boyfriend. At the restaurant, Karen and Keith talk about Hailey and then move onto Lucas’s hazing.
Later Karen turns up at school although an hour late due to misinformation. She is questioned over Lucas being given a starting place but Karen says it is because he is good and defends Lucas. However they argue back and make accusations about Lucas. Karen leaves after making a comment at Sherrie.
Lucas turns up down the park to find garbage all over the court and the basketball hoop trashed. Later he is cleaning it up when Peyton turns up and says she isn’t doing the comic strip. Peyton tells him that she doesn’t want to change her stuff but thanks Lucas for his encouragement. Lucas questions why she stays with Nathan.
Later Nathan calls Hailey and asks her to help him but she hangs up. Karen overhears and buts in, suggesting she helps him although she is unaware it is Nathan. Meanwhile Keith tells Lucas it is time he started to take things personally. Jake turns up to talk to Lucas and asks him to rise above Nathan but if he can’t, he has his back.
That night, Lucas and Hailey are walking and Lucas moans about Nathan controlling the team. Next day Peyton turns up at her locker to find a copy of “they are not you,” the rare record that got ruined previously. The tension between Karen and the other women continues while Lucas finishes up fixing the court.
That night Lucas is walking home when the team pull up in a van and grab him, sticking a sack over his head and dragging him inside. They tie his hands behind his back and throw him into the swamp. Nathan gives a speech about normally Lucas being accepted at this point but obviously that won’t be happening to him.
Lucas arrives home and talks to Karen who tells him he should rise above it but Lucas says he is past that and it is time to fight back. Next day on the court the team are refusing to pass to Lucas so Lucas steals the ball from his own team and scores. They almost start a fight and Whitey shouts at the guy for not passing to Lucas.
Later Lucas and Hailey have a short discussion and Hailey runs off to do something – Hailey turns up to see Nathan and says she will tutor him providing that he never tells Lucas and leaves him alone. She leaves and Nathan looks pleased with himself.
Next morning Nathan turns up late and brings breakfast but Hailey isn’t happy. They get started while Peyton turns up to the magazine and says she isn’t going to change it so they can take it or leave it? That night is the Burning Boat festival. Whitey gives a speech and Karen and Lucas arrive.
Lucas leaves and Karen apologises to the other women and says she will give them another chance. Whitey lights the boat on fire. Brooke turns up to see Lucas and tells him he can do his thing to try and resist. Lucas finds Nathan and hands other a spray can and tells him he isn’t going anywhere.
Peyton’s answering machine gets a call from the magazine saying they are going to run her strip, intercut with scenes of Lucas sitting next to Hailey and the burning boat. Lucas asks who she was tutoring but Hailey says he wouldn’t know them. |

| Analysis |
| I am not a fan of the title sequence. I think the visuals of Lucas walking across the bridge dribbling the basketball and the faded “One Tree Hill” text used in the pilot worked really well. The new one doesn’t seem to fit some how, especially the music. |
