Channel 4 comments on Darkplace DVD
Garth Marenghi's Darkplace release unknown

The long awaited DVD for the cult series Garth Marenghi's Darkplace is still in the works but the release date is unknown. According to a Channel 4 representative it will be released commercially but a release date has not been issued.

The show was broadcast for the first time in the UK in the first half of 2004 and quickly acquired a cult following with floods of fans logging on to take part on the live chat with Garth Marenghi and Thornton Reed on Channel4.com.

The shows following has continued to grow, being ranked 10th on TV Forge's most popular shows in between Friends and Cheers. However hope for a second series is currently looking unlikely. When enquiring we were told "there are no plans for a second series at the present time."

As shows such as Family Guy have shown though, DVD's can act as a test for a shows popularity for the network. In the case of Family Guy Fox have gone as far as to commission a movie as well as make a new series thanks to high DVD sales.
