X-Files - a legend and mystery
Stunning success or nonsense plot?
The final ever series of the X-Files is now over. Well for American viewers. And
people with Sky. However the few of us remaining in the UK that is watching the
series on terrestrial we haven't finished yet.
The X-Files provided entertainment and left people on the edge of their set
right across the world for 9 years in a row. But did anyone actually get it?
I mean the series 9 episode with Bert Renolds guest staring - what was that
about. His huge head at the end with those 2 guys singing? It makes no sense.
And yet we still watched it. Because it was really, really good. The combination
of the continual story of the aliens conspiracy which left us trying to work
out what was going on, plus the added in episodes which were just fantastic
individual stories, make the X-Files one of the best shows of our generation.
In favour of the X-Files is the fact that The Simpsons did make an episode
out of it. And a brilliant episode that was too. There is also the fact that
X-Files created the path which allowed shows such as Buffy, Star gate the series,
Roswell, Odesy 5, Mutant X, Dark Angel, Angel, etc, need I go on?
So to answer the question, yes the X-Files is a stunning success. But this
is due to the fact that it had a nonsense plot, the only can I speculative science
fiction show should have.
