Rachael is getting ready for the first day of her new job. Ross suggests he takes her out to lunch but Rachael says that Mark is taking her out to lunch. Ross invites Chandler to a bachelor party on Friday for Albert.
Ross moans to Chandler about Mark. Joey tells them he has an audition for a Broadway musical. Meanwhile Monica goes for it with Paulo. He tells her he is a poet. They start kissing. At the audition Joey aces the singing but is told there is dancing. Cuts to Chandler reading all Joey’s fake dance experience from his C.V.
Monica says that Houlio stopped while they were kissing to write a poem. He reads it to everybody but it is called the empty vase. She leaves to go to work but Phoebe points out that the poem is about how Monica is empty.
Rachael and Ross argue. Later at Central Perk Joey and Chandler talk to Ross and tell him that now Mark will be comforting her and he should make a surprise visit. Ross goes to Rachael’s office and tears Mark away from the woman he is making out with but it turns out not to be Rachael.
Joey gets told that the dance instructor cannot make it and he has to teach everyone else the dance steps. Meanwhile Monica confronts Houlio about the poem but he says it is not about Monica, it is about all American women.
At the audition everyone does some really strange dance steps. Joey is told to show them how it’s done and when the music starts and he runs for it. At Central Perk, Chandler shows Rachael his pornographic pen. Ross comes in and Chandler leaves them to talk about their relationship.
