Dawson is watching a documentary on insects. Joey makes some social commentary on male female attraction. Dawson says there are animal instincts in all of us. Goes to main title credits. Dawson tells everyone that he is going to be covering the Miss Windjammer event, a beauty contest, this year. Joey makes a comment about how much it sucks.
Pacey says he should enter and Dawson suggests that Jen enters when she brings up that her mum used to enter her in things. Jen goes to talk to Joey as she complains about the tips drying up. Jen suggests they are friends now Dawson is no longer between them.
At school Pacey moans to Dawson about his dad calling him a failure. Dawson says he can crash at his place for a few days but Pacey says he is considering something more permanent. Pacey shows him an ad but it is $250 a month. He asks if Dawson needs an assistant but Dawson says the only person who actually makes money is Miss Windjammer herself.
In the canteen Jen tells Joey she is beautiful although Joey doesn’t believe her. Jen suggests Joey enters the Miss Windjammer contest and reminds her $5,000 would go quite a way to helping her get to college. They go down to enrol and find Pacey trying to enter. Dawson finds out Joey is entering and thinks she is joking at first.
At the orientation Pacey is sitting waiting for it to begin when Hannah turns up. Hannah and he bitch at each other. Later Jen tries to teach Joey to walk in heals. Joey asks her why she is doing it and Jen says it is because she has never had a close girlfriend. Dawson and Mitch are listening to Pacey to sing.
Jen talks to Joey about what is going on between Joey and Dawson but Joey says Dawson will always see her as a friend. Pacey talks to Dawson who says he will always think of Joey as a sister but doesn’t want anyone else to have her. At the talent contest Dawson is doing interviews when Jen and Joey show up.
Hannah and Pacey continue to bitch at each other while Joey does her interview with Dawson. Joey tells him she is thinking of moving far from Capeside and says that everything changes despite Dawson’s hopes that things can stay the same.
At the pageant Jen is helping Joey get ready back stage. Dawson comes in to help Pacey get ready. The contest begins and Joey does a nice walk although the smile isn’t great. Pacey sees Jen watching Joey and suggests she is going this because she is pining after Dawson. Next Pacey is called up and gives quite a performance.
The talent show section begins with all sorts of crazy things. In the question phase Pacey gives some great funny answers. He talks to Gale who tells him there is no way he is going to win due to the clubs mentality. Joey is next up for her talent section, she prepares to sing. She gives a great performance. Dawson goes to fetch Pacey but Pacey says that he is going to take them down for not giving him a chance.
He comes on stage in a dress with Braveheart make up on. He gives a big speech about how they can take him down but he will go on, etc. Backstage Joey overhears the other girls bad mouthing her. Joey tries to leave but Dawson tells her they are bad mouthing her because they are terrified she will beat them. Dawson talks her into staying. She gives a heart felt speech.
They begin announcing the winners Hannah comes in third and Joey comes in second. Some girl called Roberta wins the contest and the girls walk off, Joey and Dawson share a satisfied glance. Outside Gale congratulates Joey and leaves, leaving Joey and Dawson alone. Dawson says he is speechless. Joey surprisingly finds that she doesn’t want to be in love with Dawson after all – she wants to have the perfect friendship they have always had.
Pacey walks over to see Hannah and they share a moment discuss how their life sucks. Jen finds Dawson and says she doesn’t even know if she had a reason for the break up. |
